Rotary International and RI President, Gordon McInally’s theme for the 2023-24 year is “Create Hope in the World”. We begin this journey by first helping each other and serving the needs of our community. We are building on the good ideas of others and showing respect for efforts made before us. We have a Learn-to-Swim program for second graders that is now in its 39th year. We have consistently supported our teachers with grants to implement their classroom enrichment ideas. We continue to give grants to those underserved in our community with an “Overcoming Obstacles” program, and a “Cool Kids Camp”. We host exchange students and we celebrate success with Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).
We are making a difference with Mental Health. Our Rotary Club has recently embarked on an innovative High School Wellness Class program, making a difference to students whose presence in the classroom has not always been certain.
We are financing a North Bay Construction Corp, collaborating with the North Bay Builders Exchange, to offer students in 20 schools an opportunity to learn construction trades, first aid, financial literacy, resume writing, with an eventual internship. Through Rotaract, we are elevating the status of young people, giving them greater opportunity, and empowering our one-day future Rotary leaders. We are encouraging diversity, equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.
Our Rotary legacy will be a “polio free world”. We continue to raise funds, plan giving, and focus our path toward this lofty goal. We get closer every day. We will succeed.
We continue to focus on PEACE. We know that PEACE comes with hard work and pursuit to build bridges in the world. PEACE is the soil where HOPE takes root. Our HOPE lies in the dreams, imagination, and those that change dreams into reality. Join us and see all that we do to “Create Hope in the World”.
